About The Program

The California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) has provided grants to PG&E for improved energy efficiency and PG&E has in turn contracted with us, Matrix Energy Systems, Inc., to implement the energy savings measures.

Matrix works with retail furniture stores in the PG&E service territory to improve energy efficiency. We do this with a mix of no-cost HVAC and lighting measures which are designed to reduce demand and improve the functioning of your current HVAC and lighting systems.

For lighting efficiency, we directly replace the existing lamps with high-efficiency lamps. For example, where color rendering is not critical, the lights can be replaced easily with CFLs. Where CFL substitution is not feasible, we will work with your store to install next-generation halogen and incandescent lamps that are 30% more efficient than regular lamps.

Since cooling makes up the second largest energy user in the retail sector after lighting, we will perform a no-cost maintenance tune-up which includes refrigerant charging, filter replacement and coil cleaning. These measures represent the most cost-effective HVAC measures available, short of equipment replacement.

In addition, Matrix will also work with your store management to assist them in promoting CFL and other efficient lighting products and program to their customers.

The PG&E Retail Furniture Store Energy Efficiency program is available on a first-come, first-served basis until allocated funds are depleted. So take advantage of this great program while you can!

This program is funded by California utility customers and administered by PG&E under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission.
